What are intentions?

Intentions are the plans we aim to complete, challenges we try to overcome, and goals we aim to achieve. An intention is a powerful thing, because it can be the motivation that helps someone change their daily life. Yearly, people around the globe set an intention when they make a wish on their birthday or set a New Year’s resolution. Intention setting has an array of benefits. Intentions can be set in a variety of ways. Regardless of the avenue used for intention setting, the creation of the vision and the planning of the achievement help create a mindfully enlightening experience.

How can we set intentions?

There are various ways that we can set intentions. Intention setting can be a daily, weekly, monthly, or even an annual event. While the frequency of the intention is flexible, it is imperative that you are clear with the intentions you set. Manifesting your intentions are only possible if your thoughts, actions, and beliefs are all aligned. It is important to clear your mind and focus directly on the intention you are setting. This practice of mindfulness will help strengthen and promote a positive outcome for your intention.

Mindful Activities to Strengthen Intentions:

  • Intention Candle Spells - using a birthday, spell candle, votive candles, etc with the color that correlates to your intention, you can strengthen your intention.

  • Full Moon Ritual - write down your intentions on a bay leaf during the full moon for the month ahead and burn them once the moon is visible.

  • Daily meditation - during your daily meditation think about your intentions and what you might need to do to obtain that intention.

  • Journaling or Vision Boards - writing down your intentions are one of the best ways to focus your energy and strengthen your intentions. Journaling helps mind dump and plan all of the thoughts you have about this intention. Vision Boards help you see what life will be like with that intention.

Whatever the intention setting ritual is, make sure that you are grounded while completing the ritual. Be mindful of every aspect that occurs within the moments you are setting your intentions.

Examples of clear intentions:

  • I intend to manifest positive energy to myself and those around me.

  • I intend to be thoughtful under pressure.

  • I intend to take control of my feelings.

  • I intend to manifest the love I deserve.

Lastly, make sure you check in with yourself the next few days to see if you are staying true to your intentions. Stay focused and on track.
