Are Tarot Courses Worth their Weight in Gold?

Tarot Master Certification 2021

Tarot Master Certification 2021

During the Summer of 2021, I wanted to focus on expanding my Tarot & Oracle knowledge. I was referred to an online Tarot Master Certification course by a close friend of mine who does Tarot Readings for a living. Initially, I was a little hesitant on spending money on a course through an interface that I was not familiar with, however, I liked the idea of working on my Tarot skills with guidance from another person.

After careful consideration, I investigated International Practitioners of Holistic Medicine (IPHM) and looked up the Tarot Master Certification course. In my mind, I figured that I would have one of two experiences with the course.

  1. If it was all beginner level information, I would be able to blow right through the course and have a nice little certification under my belt. No harm, No Foul. At least it would force me to have a deeper look at the cards like I used to back when I first started reading Tarot, which was almost ten years ago.

  2. On the flip side, if this course had additional information…like how to apply tarot cards to people, as well as various situations, or even how to expand your clientele, then that would be nice as well.

The retail purchase of this course is priced at $129 USD, but luckily this interface has regular sales. Based off my two possible experience outcomes, I figured, “What the heck, let’s see what this course has to offer.” I finalized my purchase and was happy to learn that this course was definitely worth its weight. It should be noted, that this course does have beginner level information, but what I appreciated was that it is more so geared to assist the student by gaining Tarot Reading confidence. The instructor was very informative on practices, spreads, and advice on how to learn to talk with a Tarot Deck. To my admiration, it was not about memorizing keywords or phrases that go along with specific cards. It was about learning the system and then practicing with it intuitively. The course included hours of instructional videos, printable resources, and printable worksheets to help new and/or advanced readers look at Tarot in different ways.

Overall, I really appreciated this course. Because I have been reading Tarot for years, I didn’t gain a ton of new knowledge. Nevertheless, I felt like I learned a fair amount from it as well. Not only did I enjoy that I was able to do the course at my own pace. I also appreciated that there was a legitimate course test and grade requirement in order to get the certification. In short, I found the information useful and the resources helpful.

Do I think that every Tarot Reader has to be certified in order to be a “Master” or even just an exceptional Tarot Reader? No. On the other hand, Tarot does follow a system that should be learned and understood. I believe that intuition is a large factor in what makes an extraordinary Tarot Reader. Anyone can memorize information and regurgitate that information to someone when they see a card. A truly in-tuned reader can look past keywords, this allows them more information from their readings. Tarot does not have to be all memory or all intuition! If you want to take a course to learn more about the cards or help you develop yourself as a reader, then you should. Stretch your analytical brain if you feel guided but don’t feel like you have to in order to be a great reader.
